About Boilermakers Local 108

What is a Boilermaker?

The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers is made up of over 100,000 proud members across the United States and Canada, united by skill, strength, and solidarity.

Boilermakers are a specialized craft, working in power plants—both fossil fuel and renewable—petrochemical facilities, and other heavy industrial environments. Our work includes welding, fabricating, rigging, layout, reading and creating detailed drawings, and a wide range of precision tasks essential to large-scale construction and maintenance.

Boilermakers Local 108, founded in 1984, proudly serves the Southeast with a tradition of excellence and a commitment to quality.

Our members build, repair, and maintain the vital infrastructure that powers our communities—from power generation and oil refining to pipelines, tanks, heavy rigging, steel erection, and other specialized areas of the trade.

We supply contractors with highly trained, safety-focused Boilermakers who are tested in all applicable welding processes and continually sharpen their skills through our modern apprenticeship and training programs. Our members are OSHA 30 certified, drug tested, and attend accredited safety training to ensure every job is completed to the highest standard.

Our Apprenticeship Program produces some of the finest Boilermakers in the region, blending hands-on experience with rigorous classroom instruction. These men and women carry forward our legacy with pride, integrity, and craftsmanship that shows in every project.

As a union, we speak with one voice to negotiate fair contracts, secure strong benefits, and protect the rights of working people. We continue the mission our founders began: to ensure safe working conditions, defend workers’ rights, and deliver unmatched craftsmanship to every client we serve.

From power plants and pipelines to refineries, solar installations, ships, and beyond—Boilermakers Local 108 builds the future while honoring the tradition of our trade.
